A last is an internal mold usually made of plastic with a shape similar to that of a human foot. Shoemakers use the last as a base upon which they add the insole, upper, sole and/or heel. It is therefore the most important element of the shoe design and the starting point for the design of any new shoe family. Lasts are traditionally shaped and modelled by hand and determine the fit, height of the shoe, toe shape and heel height.
Fluevog’s last makers are some of the most experienced and skilled in the world. Aside from producing our production lasts, they are also responsible for making bespoke lasts for such notable figures as Shaquille O’Neal, The Beatles and Queen Elizabeth II herself!
