John’s approach to designing shoes has varied widely over the years, but one thing he’s always counted on is you. Constantly impressed by the original concepts and imaginative requests brought to him by Fluevog fans, he started Open Source Footwear over a decade ago to further encourage people to keep dreaming and send in their design ideas. Dozens of shoes later, the program continues to churn out stunning and often bestselling shoe designs inspired by fan-submitted concepts. In the words of John, let’s be thankful.
This season’s Truth Makena is a spectacular shoe with cutouts inspired by a submission from longtime Fluevoger Marisol Sanchez from San Francisco! John and the design team loved the clean and inventive simplicity of her sketch and turned it into a fine addition to their Spring/ Summer ’17 collection!
