Stories from the Fluniverse by Deann from St Louis, MO

After dreaming of my first pair of Fluevogs since 1997, I visited San Francisco in 2009 for my birthday and was determined not to leave without new Fluevog Boots! They were black boots, zippers on the inside and buttons on the outside, with a heel that was balled out at the bottom. They fit me like a glove! These became my feet, with plenty of stories of me falling asleep in them.

In November 2010 I went out with some lady friends to a club and went dancing. I was driving home late at night and went to change a CD in my car. The next thing I remember is waking up in a very dark place with water starting to surround me. I was in and out of consciousness and started to realize I had just been in an accident and I was trapped in a car! My belongings were floating around me, and I could see a tiny crack in the windshield. Frantically,
I started to punch the windshield and then it occurred to me… I have my Fluevogs on! I kicked and kicked and kicked and made a small hole just big enough for me to squeeze through. I got out and swam to the bank. When I turned to look, I realized I had driven off the highway, flipped the car and flown into a highway runoff pond. I was bloody scared and truly wasn’t sure if I was alive. I ran to a storefront and collapsed.

Next thing I know I’m in the hospital and I hear the doctor telling the nurses to cut my pants and boots off. I woke up just enough to utter “Cut my pants if you want, but please just take my boots off.”

My doctor came in later and said to me “Young lady, you have many angels and are truly blessed to survive this accident.” I cried and told him my angels did save me, and my damn boots!! He handed my boots to me and told me I was
lucky to be alive.

After some months of recovery I made my way out again to socialize for dinner and at the end of the night, heading to my car, I immediately noticed the window was smashed. They took my bag and my boots!

I made my police report and I cried like I’d lost a best friend — these boots saved my life. I told the cop the story about my lucky boots, he smiled and suggested maybe the luck wasn’t needed anymore. After I shook it off I realized the cop might be right, maybe the magic needed to go to another soul. So I made peace with the situation, and bid farewell to my favorite boots!
