[An edited version of this interview first appeared in Issue 18 of The Fluevog Post (Spring/Summer 2022)]

Signe Yerxa, Fluevog Edmonton Manager
Years with Fluevog: Almost 5! Yippee!

What are some of your favourite styles right now?
7th Heaven. I also am really digging Bondgirl at the moment.

What was your first Fluevog experience?
Oooo that’s a tough one… some may say I was born into the Fluevog Experience, LOL. My momma got my first pair, The Minstrel Minuet for my grade nine graduation and I have been hooked ever since.

Describe Edmonton in a nutshell:
Prairie lands, 100%. The weather changes at a moment’s notice. Watch yourself!

Something that would surprise people about Edmonton:
Edmonton has an average of 321 days of sun a year. Get that vitamin D!

Favourite part of working for Fluevog?
The employees. It really is like a big Fluevog family and we all support each other. It is also amazing to work for a company that supports non-profit charities and allows us to have fundraising events in store. Fills my heart with joy.

Something that would surprise people about you:
I am John Fluevog’s niece. Oh boy, cat’s outta the bag! Although he did out me at the book signing here. Silly Uncle J.

What is your favourite Fluevog Store (other than your own)?
I haven’t visited, I’ve only seen photos, but I would have to say Amsterdam. From what I have seen it looks BEAUTIFUL. Also, who wouldn’t want to visit and maybe work there? I know I sure would!

Strangest pronunciation of Fluevog you’ve heard?
Johnny Fluefhog.
