Unique Souls in Unique Soles: Rhiannon & Odera

[An edited version of this interview first appeared in Issue 23 of The Fluevog Post for Fall/Winter 2024.]

It goes without saying that our community and team are an essential part of what makes Fluevog so uniquely special, which is why we love putting them in the spotlight! The magnificent models featured in this issue truly help bring our Fall/Winter ’24 collection to life. So, without further ado, let’s get to know our stars this season — Fluevogologist Rhiannon and past Fluevog Artist Grant juror Odera!

Fluevogologist and Fall/Winter '24 Fluevog Post model Rhiannon.

Rhiannon (@nonny91)

How long have you been with Fluevog?
I have been with Fluevog for 4 years. I started out for the first 8 months in Edmonton then moved to Vancouver Gastown where I’ve been ever since. I love helping people find exactly the right shoe for them, both in fit and for their needs. It’s like a great satisfying puzzle.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m an actor, so if I’m not helping customers at Fluevog I’ll most likely be auditioning. I have worked on stage and in commercials and TV. Meeting so many people from all walks of life at Fluevog is a great source of inspiration for my acting work.

Anything else you’d like to share?
My cat Pan is quite the celebrity. He has Vog Socks named after him, has modelled for a cat food brand, and was on the cover of a pet magazine! An adventure cat at heart, you can find the two of us biking or walking around Vancouver.

How did you first discover Fluevog?
I first discovered Fluevog through my husband, who used to work at a shoe store. Over time, they had a really dynamic collection of shoes and I was constantly drawn to their Fluevogs.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a painter and illustrator working on the unceded Indigenous territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. Most recently, I have been creating paintings for an oracle deck/diasporic divinatory systems. I’ve also been simultaneously building a body of work exploring intersectional communal cosmologies and embodied mythologies. Outside of painting I spend a lot of time dancing, thinking about colour, karaoke, and journaling.

Anything else you’d like to share?
I’ve recently been living in the Y2K nostalgia and bought a Tamagotchi watch. I like to imagine I am accessing my inner child, but in reality I might be reliving the pain of forgetting about it and seeing it has passed.

To Rhiannon and Odera, and to all the unique souls who have modelled for us in the past — thank you!
